Landscape Consultation
Our landscape consultation falls within the pre-design phase of landscape design and includes a one hour site visit, culminating in a report. The visit allows us to see your property and talk with you about your concerns, goals and the limits and opportunities of your site. Our report will provide you with direction so you can begin addressing your priorities and/or seek further design support or services from a professional gardener or contractor. Since no two landscapes are the same, each consultation report is unique and site specific.
We will ask you to complete a detailed questionnaire for us to determine the scale of your project. Larger sites and more complex priorities will result in a longer report. Once on site, we walk through your property assessing its features and gather photos and information. At our visit, you are welcome to take notes or record the conversation for your reference. After our visit, we will produce a digital report tailored to your space and expressed goals suitable for review on a screen or to print as 11” x 17” color sheets.
Reports include our site assessment and recommendations for improvements which may be conveyed through annotated site photos and sketches, precedent images, narrative description, and plant suggestions.
Our feedback is based upon best practices for sustainable care of landscapes suited to preferences you express.
We think of our reports as a guide, a road map to help prioritize and frame your next steps. While our reports are the beginning of any design process, they are not detailed planting designs. Many clients achieve their garden goals by DIY projects based on our report recommendations. But, initiating a design for a specific project can be a next step, discussed after you review your report. If you believe detailed design work may be necessary for you, a consultation is a great place to start a subsequent design process. See Planting Plan and Landscape Design sections for more information.
Fee
The fee range is between $950 to $1,850. Upon review of your questionnaire responses and sharing of site information, we will finalize the fee based on your conditions and listed priorities. The fee includes travel within 10 miles of Redbud for a site visit. We can provide a quote for variation of travel distance and time beyond 10 miles.
